What's the obstacle that would have prevented you from investing in coaching?

I think it was the sense of complacency that I had. Not so much complacency in that I was not wanting to do anything, but making the commitment to actually move forward to it, knowing that it would add value to my life. I would say that there was some resistance to it, but at the same time, there was a motivation to finally just do it. I finally made the decision to go ahead and do it.

What did you find as a result of investing in coaching with me?

There are a lot of unwritten rules in business and in life. It’s one thing to have a general idea that things aren’t going the way I expect them to and that my decisions are probably a factor in that, as opposed to knowing specifically what I can do to improve my life. It was helpful to come up with specific action items and approaches that I can use to improve my life, improve my career, and overcome obstacles.

For example, you helped me define the emails to send and communicate out. That formed a modifiable template and get a general approach to communicating with other people. They’re good ice-breaking emails to make new contacts.

What specific feature did you like most about my coaching process?

When you asked me questions I could, through those questions, get to the bottom of issues and think of things that I wouldn’t have come up with on my own. For example, when I would be triggered by different things, you would ask how I came to be triggered and I could think through that to recognize that maybe I had a scarcity mindset or was thinking in terms of the worst-case scenario. I came to realize that if I hadn’t already been thinking that way to begin with, I might not have become triggered. I can also take actions to be triggered less, like talking to people and communicating with others.

I also liked using Google Drive with you because it allowed me to take down insights, ask questions between coaching sessions, do the homework and get feedback on it, or just lead into the discussion. I’m on the Discord channel, which is where we get the general insights, but the coaching allowed me to discuss my own specific set of issues and come up with action items to do.

Another thing I liked was working through part of The Hero’s Journey. I’m going to continue that work and apply the insights that we’ve talked about. I previously thought about finding “the key that’s going to fix my life and make my life problem-free” and there's really nothing like that. Encountering problems is part of life and now I have techniques and insights on how to handle them.

What were three other benefits from working with me?

Business focus, more confidence, and realizing that the secrets and fears I have are much more common than I realized.

Thinking in terms of my career and some of the ways I haven’t been living up to my full potential, there were a few things we talked about that were really important. One of them was asking why I felt a certain way. Sometimes the motivation behind our thinking that we need a big change is actually a Nice Guy over-achiever or imposter complex. Now if I do legitimately want to move forward I have the tools to do that. I had a lot of fear before about going out and talking to people or communicating with them. I’ve been able to put down that fear of rejection that snowballed into fear of the worst-case scenario.

Would you recommend someone else work with me? Why?

Yes, particularly if they’re someone that I see as having a Nice Guy type of personality that’s needing to work on similar areas that I had. I think anyone that could use more business focus, more confidence in their relationships, and overcoming obstacles and self-limiting beliefs could benefit from coaching with you.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

I feel like I’ve actually gained traction in areas that I was previously spinning my wheels on. The outcomes of the coaching are very pragmatic and I can take approaches to help me to dig in and move forward instead of just going around in circles. We’re not just talking about theory; we’re talking about practicality. Even when I thought the las session was really insightful, sometimes I’d be surprised because the next session would be even more insightful.
